ZAMBIANS CAUTIONED AGAINST ACCEPTING CAMPAIGN ‘LIES’

By ROGERS KALERO
Zambians must stop accepting lies to be part of political campaigns, but must ensure that politicians are held accountable for the promises they made during election campaigns,” the Patriotic Front (PF) has said.

PF Copperbelt Deputy Media Director Munalula Moola said Zambians must ensure that politicians who make numerous campaign promises like President Hakainde Hichilema and his ‘New Dawn’ government fulfil their campaign promises starting from the appreciating of the Kwacha, job creation for the youths and free education.
Mr Moola said any politician who tell lies or makes fake promises has no interest of the people, but was merely telling lies to win the support of the people and later dump them.

“Zambians must stop accepting lies to be part of political campaigns, but must instead hold politicians accountable to their promises and words. Thinking that political talks are just talks and should not be fulfilled is detrimental to the development of this nation.

“Politicians must promise what they can do and should be held accountable for their promises. I call upon all Zambians to stand and demand from President Hichilema’s fulfilment of the promises he made,” Mr Moola said .

Mr Moola said Zambians must demand that President Hichilema explain why the Zambia Kwacha has not appreciated but was at K17 to the US dollar contrary to what he had promised.

“During the campaigns, President Hichilema said after winning the August elections, the Kwacha will appreciate to K5 to a dollar, but up to now nothing has happened. He promised that once he is sown in at 10.00hours by 14hrs, the Kwacha will be K5 to a US dollar.

“We also demand an explanation why the UPND Govement has not brought down fertiliser to K250. We Demand to know why farmers are not getting 12x 50 kg bags of fertilizer. We Demand to know why Government is not buying a 59kg bag of maize at K250,” he said.

Mr Moola said the ruling UPND has realised that it has no capacity to fulfil many of its campaign promises and has now embarked on serious witch-hunt to create a perception that the Patriotic Front (PF) is corrupt.

Mr Moola said, apart from witch-hunt, the ruling UPND has also embarked on propaganda , lies, intimidation and threats to silence the most vocal Patriotic Front (PF) Members of Parliament (MP).
Mr Moola said it was surprising that the UPND which were accusing the PF and former President Edgar Lungu of being dictators, were now exhibiting serious dictatorial tendencies in less than two months of being in government .

“A lot of things has happened in the less than two months in which the UPND has been in government. We have seen UPND cadres assaulting police officers, we have seen UPND cadres instructing police officers to lock up PF supporters.

“All this, is happening with the full knowledge of the ruling party’s leadership. Any way, we know that the UPND has no capacity to deliver its campaign promises hence resorting to serious witch-hunt and intimidation of the PF MPs. This will not help them. Zambians want UPND to fulfil its campaign promises,” Mr Moola said.
