3 nabbed for assaulting suspected thief

THREE men have been arrested for assaulting another man on allegations that he stole an undisclosed amount of money from one of them.
Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga said the three, Ikram Bux 34, Abdul Matini Saiyed 27, and Nadat Zakki Mohammed, 37, have been arrested for whipping Moshin Sidat 27, a worker for Nadat, on allegations of theft.
He said the incident is alleged to have occurred on November 3, 2021, between 20:00 and 23:50 hours.


Mr. Hamoonga said in a statement that the police acted on a video that was circulated on social media platforms and arrested the suspects.
He said the three suspects undressed the victim, tied his arms, and started whipping him, making him sustain deep cuts on the skin.


Mr. Hamoonga said Nadat Zakki Mohammed of House number 18 Mambilima Road in Rhodes Park in Lusaka invited the other two accused to assist in interrogating his worker, Moshin Sidat of Kamwala residential area who he accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money.


Mr Hamoonga said the three have since been charged and would appear in the courts of law soon.
