ACCEPT LEADERSHIP CHANGE – CHANDA

By JOHN KOMBE

THE bitter pill of changing leadership in the PF must just be swallowed by all members though painful, if the party is to succeed in rebranding itself into an attractive political entity, Kanchibiya Member of Parliament, Sunday Chanda has said.

Mr Chanda said that change of leadership for any organisation that had just come from a defeat like the PF, was inevitable.

He said in an interview that in as much as change may be painful, it was the only constant that must be painfully embraced.

Mr Chanda said that change of leadership was currently not an option for the PF if it would succeed in rebranding itself into an attractive political party.

He insisted that rebranding must not be focused on bouncing back into power but regaining the confidence of the Zambian people and becoming a formidable political party.

Mr Chanda said gaining confidence of Zambians must be the preoccupation of the party.

“Politics is not just about power. The preoccupation of the PF must be to reorganize itself into a party that will offer credible checks and balances to the current government, then we can start thinking about bouncing back. Of course this can only happen with a change of leadership. Just like in football, you cannot keep the same coach when the team is losing,” he said.

Mr. Chanda said change of leadership was one of the ingredients to the much talked about rebranding although it was a painful thing to do.
