CROWN TV APOLOGISES TO AMOS CHANDA

CROWN Television has apologised to former State House press aide, Amos Chanda for airing a totally fabricated and malicious story that he illegally acquired land in Njolwe area of Chongwe and confiscated a graveyard.

In a statement which was also aired during prime time news hour, Crown TV director of operations Oswald Yambani apologised to Mr Chanda for the defamatory news story aired on October 31, 2021 quoting a Ms Choolwe Shisholeka who alleged that Mr Chanda illegally acquired land in Njolwe area of Chongwe and that he was cruel man who had confiscated a graveyard.

He said the claims were totally fabricated, false and without any basis, as it was discovered there was not a single grave on his farm which Mr Chanda legally acquired through established procedures.

Mr Yambani said it was never the wish or indeed the editorial policy of Crown TV to injure or ridicule any member of the public. 

He said the TV station regretted that contents of the said news story contain highly defamatory words as complained of by Mr Chanda and hence wished to retract the story in its entirety and unreservedly apologize to him for the injury caused.

“Crown TV therefore apologises for the embarrassment this caused Mr Chanda,” he said.
