I WILL FIRE YOU – HH

By NATION REPORTER

I will not relent in protecting public resources and anyone found wanting will be fired, President Hakainde Hichilema has warned.

President Hichilema said he expected all government workers adhere to the new government policy of unity, meritocracy and professionalism at all levels and rankings.

He said public office bearers must align themselves with the vision and dream of his administration in service provision.

The Head of State was speaking when he swore in six permanent secretaries and chairperson for the Zambia Correctional Service Evaristo Kalonga at State House yesterday.

He urged them to take their oaths seriously as they serve the people under the new dawn administration.

Mr Hichilema noted with sadness that some contracts have continued to be pegged at a high cost thereby going against the UPND policy on contracts which should be the right price, quality and timeliness.

He said such conducts showed that some Permanent Secretaries were not monitoring the tender committees.

Among those sworn Dr Mutinta Musonda Permanent Secretary for Administration at  Cabinet Office, Mervis Nkomesha, Permanent Secretary –  Special duties Cabinet Office, Angela Kawandami –  Special duties Cabinet Office and Lillian Kapusana who will serve as Permanent Secretary Office of the Vice President.

President Hichilema also swore-in Sebastian Akapelwa who is Western Province Permanent Secretary and Robert Kamalata as Permanent Secretary for Lusaka Province.
