ZAMBIA Sugar Plc has rewarded various resellers of its Whitespoon products, with a pledge from the new dawn government to fully support the company in its quest to contribute to the country’s industrialisation and economic development. Zambia Sugar Plc has received kudos from government for being innovative captains of industry in promoting private sector growth and contributing to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Chipoka Mulenga has said that Zambia Sugar has played and continues to play a critical role in the industrialisation agenda, and has since pledged commitment to support its growth.

Mr Mulenga was speaking on Thursday night at the Zambia Sugar Second “Whitespoon Sweet Loyalty Rewards” gala dinner, where various resellers drawn from across the country were rewarded for their immense contribution in supplementing the company’s distribution chain.

And Zambia Sugar Plc Country Managing Director, Oswald Magwenzi said the company’s focus is to grow capacity of the resellers through various initiatives, citing the Loyalty Rewards as one of the ways and major channels that will continuously be used to achieve such an objective. He explained that resellers account for about 90 percent of domestic trade sales, while the company continues to also contribute to the growth of the country’s retail sector share of GDP.

Mr Magwenzi also said the company is committed to contribute to GDP through not only manufacturing, but also agriculture by supporting the out-grower schemes which account for close to 5, 000 jobs and over 40 percent of sugar cane used in sugar production.

Meanwhile, the overall winner of this year’s Loyalty rewards, Mandandi Mandandi of Mandcha Enterprises of Mongu, thanked Zambia Sugar for such a life-changing opportunity.
