PF LEADERSHIP ROW RAGES

By NATION REPORTER

IT will be retrogressive to allow a small selfish clique within the Patriotic Front (PF) to unilaterally choose a party president and thereafter impose such an individual on the will of the general membership, People’s Crusade of Zambia President, David Moyo Wambuya has said.

Mr Wambuya said choosing a president unilaterally would be similar to certifying PF as a brought in dead (BID) and the party should forget of effectively participating in the 2026 general elections.
He said a political party was not supposed to be managed like a business company because its exercise of values and principles was enshrined in the Zambian Constitution.

Mr Wambuya said every member had the right to participate in the affairs of a political party of their choice therefore there should be no such group or clique assuming to be superior than the general membership.

“It is therefore high time that the former President, Mr. Edgar Lungu started concentrating on quietly living and enjoying a life of a retired politician because the sustained allegations against him that he is to some extent involved in the process of finding the PF president, who would be his successor is certainly unfortunate to hear and a serious threat to intra-or internal party democracy,” he said.

Mr Wambuya said a democratic stage should be set where both the PF leadership and its general membership could be allowed to exercise their national constitutional right and freely choose the political party leader of their choice who would then takeover from Mr. Lungu.
He said a clique of PF members should not be entertained to decide who should become President of the party going forward.

Mr Wambuya urged the PF to respect provisions of the Zambian Constitution and proceed to hold a national convention which was representative and inclusive in nature unlike trying to convene a rushed micro-focused group discussion.
