‘PF NEEDS OVERHAUL’

‘PF NEEDS OVERHAUL’

By ADRIAN MWANZA

THERE is need to have a complete overhaul of the PF central committee if the party is to recover from the defeat at the hands of the UPND in the August 12 general elections, says Matero MP W. Mr Sampa has also maintained that the PF was not dead but would rebound and shock people who have written it off.

Mr Sampa said in an interview that there was need to bring in new faces in the central committee who could bring in fresh ideas as the party rebranded ahead of the 2026 general elections.

He said that it was only prudent that those who were in the central committee stepped down in a magnanimous manner to give way to people who would propel the party to greater heights. Mr Sampa however, said that there was need to preserve the likes of former President Edgar Lungu, Alexander Chikwanda and Samuel Mukupabecause they were pillars of the party.

He said it would be folly if the old timers were sidelined because they were the bedrock of the party and would give timely and concrete counsel. MrSampa said the PF needed to wake up from the doldrums and focus on rebuilding the party as time was of the essence. “I have maintained that the party needs to choose a leader to quickly prepare for the elections and my plea is that those who want to be in leadership should be selfless and put the party in front and not their personal interests,’’ he said.

He said that it was unfortunate that some people thought the PF was dead and buried but that it just suffered a minor setback that would be rectified as soon as possible.
