Zambian student scoops top prize

A ZAMBIAN student studying in China, Temweni Mubanga has scooped the top-prize in the short video competition recently launched to portray the strengths of the China-Zambia Friendship, defeating other nine competitors.
The “Most Beautiful Stories of China-Zambia Friendship Short Video Competition”, also known as Zambia Regional Round of the Third “Belt and Road Short Video Competition”, was jointly organized by Chinese mainstream news site Global Times Online.
The competition was held in September and October 2021, and was open to participation of Zambian university students studying locally and in China, and young employees of Chinese enterprises in Zambia.
In the entries, the participants portrayed the “Most beautiful stories of China-Zambia friendship” in their eyes from their own experiences and perspectives.
According to a statement availed by Global Times Online of China marking conclusion of the video competition on November, Ms Mubanga lifted the top trophy of the event and an award ceremony would soon be held in China where all winners would be unveiled and awarded.
In her video, Ms Mubanga shared her experiences of pursuing a degree in China and introduced a series of China-aided infrastructure projects in Zambia.
Besides, she reviewed the history of Zambia-China’s diplomatic ties and envisioned a brighter future of the friendship between the two countries.
“These entries are included in an entry collection of the Third Belt and Road Short Video Competition, and an awards ceremony is expected to be held by the organizers in China in early December,” reads the statement in part.
The statement further stated that the Video Competition was also supported by the Belt and Road Institute of Science & Technology-BRIST, an institution based in Zambia, which focuses on youth human resource development to link China and Zambia cooperation and offer entrepreneurship skills training.
TopStar, a joint venture between ZNBC and StarTimes, a leading media group and digital television service provider with strong presence in Zambia, was the core media partner of the competition.
