IT’S VENGEANCE – KABIMBA

By ADRIAN MWANZA
THE new dawn government is using the fight against corruption as a façade to perpetuate their vengeful agenda on their political adversaries who they want to embarrass, Wynter Kabimba has said.
Mr Kabimba, who is Rainbow Party leader, said in an interview that it was clear that this was no longer a fight against corruption but an act of vengeance by the new regime.
He said that former Home Affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo’s scenario was a clear case of vengeance because he was not a flight risk and actually presented himself to the law enforcers at Chelstone Police but he was bundled and taken to Chinsali like a common criminal.
Mr Kabimba said that if they had served Kampyongo with a call-out and he decided not to present himself then such an action could have been justified but it’s clear that they just wanted to embarrass him.
He said that the charge they had slapped on Kampyongo was laughable and happened way back in 2015.
“Everyone can see that the cases of Davis Chama, Stephen Kampyongo and Joe Malanji are acts of vengeance and not a fight against corruption as portrayed by the new dawn government,” he said.
He said that Mr Chama was also humiliated in a similar manner as they had bundled him to Sesheke instead of just issuing a call-out to him.
Mr Kabimba said he had no doubt that Mr Chama would have travelled to Sesheke without any qualms rather than already declaring him guilty in their eyes.
And Mr Kabimba said the Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti misrepresented herself by declaring that the nine PF MP’s whose seats were nullified by the High Court could not take part in Parliamentary business until the matter was concluded.
He said that it was clear that the Constitutional Court was the only institution that was vested with powers to interpret the constitution and no one else meaning the Speaker misdirected herself.
“The only authority given under article 72 to determine and declare a seat vacant is the Constitutional Court and the aggrieved have a right to go to court to have a judicial review in this matter,” he said.
