NGO CONCERNED WITH THE EXISTING RIFT BETWEEN HH AND ECL

By SHERRY CHABALA

Social Economical and Environmental Survival (SEES), Executive Director Reverend Moses Lungu has expressed worry with the seeming rift existing between former head of state Edgar Lungu and President Hakainde Hichilema.

In an interview, Reverend Lungu said there is need for the former head of state to refrain from playing to the gallery and accept that he had an opportunity to rule Zambia and the opportunity elapsed.

He Mr Lungu should accept and respect that President Hichilema is now the Republican President.

Rev Lungu has also advised the church to give the current government a chance to rule and bring development rather than embarking on the use of innuendos to attack the government.

He explained that the current poor economic status of the country is an indication that Zambia’s economy has been fragile for a long time.

He advised that, the church focus on praying for the well-being and development of the country.

“The innuendos coming from the church is making the situation to be very unfortunate for the development of the country.

I think Zambia is bigger than any politician and particularly we want to urge the former head of State not to play to the gallery. He must realise that he had an opportunity that was accorded to him by the Zambians, he did what he could so he needs to allow his friend to work for Zambia,” Rev Lungu said.
