GOLD production at Kasenseli mine in Mwinilunga is expected to increase following the procurement of production machinery being installed at the mine, the Zambia Gold Company Limited has said.
Company Public Relations Officer Kaputo Liyani said that the installation of machinery was almost complete when the government suspended the mining and processing activities at the gold mine.
Mr. Liyani said in an interview that the company is earmarked to process 50 to 70 tons of raw material per hour with the purchase of the new machinery which is at the optimization stage.
He explained that before the purchase of the machine, the company used to process three tons of raw material per hour using small machinery.
He said the company is expecting a significant jump in terms of the raw material being processed which would result in increased production with the coming in of the modern equipment.
“The two new machines will significantly increase production because initially, we have been using a small machine which processes about three tons of raw materials per hour now those can process about 50 to 70 tons per hour,” he said.
Mr. Liyani said the setting up process for the new machinery was almost complete when the government suspended the mining and processing activities at the gold mine.
He said the installation process was at the optimisation stage to ensure maximum gold production from the newly purchased machines
