Rushing into electing someone to lead PF is premature – Mwamba

By SILUMESI MALUMO
Former Ambassador to Ethiopia, Emmanuel Mwamba, says rushing for who to lead the Patriotic Front (PF) is premature.

Mr Mwamba said it is necessary for the PF leadership to concentrate on mobilising the party before deciding to choose a party president to take over from President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Mwamba said the party leadership needs to take an audit and find out whether it still has members among the grassroots.
He said grassroots membership was critical and needed to be take care of.

He said the party can only hold general elections when the party structures are intact.
“The party needs to find out whether the structures are still intact. For now, if we rush for who takes over the party, it will be very premature,” he said.
Meanwhile Mr Mwamba has indicated that he has no interest yet to take over the PF presidency.
He said he appreciates people who are backing him to challenge for the position of the Presidency but for now he has not decided.
“I am yet to make a determination and I have not expressed that interest,” he said.
