Discipline jobs scammers – Canisius

By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE minister of Health should take time to quietly investigate the rot going on at the Ministry of Health before disciplining the culprits, former UPND vice president Dr Canisius Banda has said.

Dr Banda said that the minister needed to be very agile when dealing with the matter if she was to get to the root cause.

He was reacting to revelations that some human resource officers in the Ministry of Health are selling jobs to unsuspecting members of the public for K5, 000.

Health minister, Sylvia Masebo, confirmed and said she was personally aware of one person who was asked and paid K5,000 for a job that did not exist.

He said it was not surprising but that if she knew them it was prudent to discipline them so that would-be offenders are deterred.

“It is not surprising but then if she knows them, she should discipline them once and for all,” Dr Banda said.

Dr Banda said it was unthinkable to arrest people before investigating the matter thoroughly as facts might be distorted.

He said that at the moment she was just making noise as she did not have the full details on her table.
