FOOTBALL administrator Gideon Mwenya has challenged local football administrators to drop their egos this year and work together to redeem the Zambian game which has been in disarray.

Mwenya, who contested in last year’s Football Associ- ation of Zambia (FAZ) elections and lost the vice presidency to Justin Mumba said sports administrators are to blame for the poor state of the Zambian game.

Mwenya said football pol- itics have divided administrators who need to work together to take the game forward.

Mwenya who is president for Konkola Mine Police which features in the third tier of the FAZ league said 2021 was not the best year because football administra- tors have been intolerant of each other.

“Admittedly our football has been in disarray and it has no one to blame but we Administrators because we have been intolerant of each other the last few years,”

“The Zambian football family has largely been di- vided over the years with football politics cutting a divide between those who are viewed to be against the current administration and those perceived to be propast administration,” Mwen- ya said.

Mwenya said there is need for administrators to learn to co-exist and drive the inter- ests of the Zambian game.

“We lost the vice presiden- tial election to our brother Justin Mumba but that has not discouraged our drive to serve our football.

“We remain in constant touch with our competitor and brother Justin Mumba for the betterment of our football and we believe that it’s only through engage- ments that our football will develop,” Mwenya said.

He said there is need for administrators to embrace an all-inclusive approach this year by bringing every- one on board including those whose ego may have been dented.

“In the New Year, let us all embrace one another, we put aside our ego and bring our ideas on the table. Togeth- er we can develop Zambian football and take it to greater heights,” Mwenya
