GOVT TRYING TO APPEASE PAY MASTERS IN KCM DEAL
By ADRIAN MWANZA
THE move by government to start negotiations over the sale of KCM is aimed at appeasing the people that helped the UPND when they were in opposition, Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma has charged.
Recently PF vice President Given Lubinda said that government had reached an advanced stage in the sale of KCM.
Mr Musoma said that he was not surprised by the move because the UPND were trying to pay back the people that gave them money prior to the August 12, 2021.
He said that the government needed to come’ clean over the matter rather than the speculations that were making rounds.
“For me I would like to challenge government to state the true picture on the status quo of KCM and not what is happening were things are being done in secret,” he said.
Mr Musoma said Zambians had indicated that they did not want an investor but continue running the mining firm under the arm pits of government.
And New Congress Party (NCP) president Pastor Peter Chanda said that it was only prudent for Mines minister Paul Kabuswe to come out in the open over the matter. Mr Chanda said minerals were diminishing assets hence the need for Zambia to maximize before they were completely wiped out by foreigners.
“The Copper prices are very good at the moment and the government should take advantage so that the Kwacha could be stabilized,” he said.
