‘AUTO’ OPEN-SIX-POINT LEAD AT FAZ FUTSAL LEAGUE SUMMIT

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AUTOMOTIVE FC maintained their unbeaten record and opened a six-poins lead at the summit of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) premier Futsal League table after edging Kabwe K-Line 3-1 in a Week-13 fixture at Automotive Indoor Futsal Arena.

It was not easy for Automotive as they had to bring their A-game to overcome K-Line who looked determined to give the defending champions their first defeat in three seasons.

Goals from Chota Chileshe, Jack Simwami and James Mwila handed K-Line their second defeat of the FAZ Premier Futsal League season to propel Automotive to 42 points.

Solomon Maimba scored a goal for K-Line but could not inspire his team to avoid defeat.

Automotive FC coach Andrea Cristoforetti who is also National Futsal team coach described the game as one of the most competitive games.

He said Automotive could have suffered their first defeat despite having created a lot of chances which were not converted into goals.

Meanwhile Siavonga Beetles humiliated Lusaka Avengers 8-2 to move to eighth position on the Premier Futsal League table with 15 points.

A hat trick from Samson Tembo and a goal apiece from Timothy Sichalue, Rickson Bulawayo, Japhet Mukandakure, Boldwin Zimba and Isaak Mwanza was what Beetles needed to avenge their first round defeat to Avengers.

In other FAZ Premeir Futsal League games played over the weekend, Chipata Boys beat BS Stars 4-3 to maintain third position with 24 points.

CSS Petauke FC maintained seventh position after beating struggling Livingstone Pirates 5-3 to move to 16 points, on par with BS Stars and Avengers.

Kitwe Bullets moved to 23 points after picking a 6-0 walkover victory over Kafue Celtics.
