PF cadres did not carry pre-marked ballots

By NATION REPORTER

THE six PF members that survived a lynching and were shot at by the Police did not carry pre-marked ballot papers as earlier indicated by suspected UPND cadres who pounced on them on Thursday last week.

The six  who were roughed up  survived the wrath of an angry mob and the police as their situation was similar to the late North Western Province Chairperson Jackson Kungo who was brutally murdered after an angry mob pounced on him on grounds that he was carrying pre-marked ballots during the August 12 general elections.

Meanwhile police spokesperson Rae Haamonga in a statement said they had arrested and charged the six PF members for the offence of proposing violence.

Mr Haamonga said the six,  who  included Joshua Matebele Tembo aged 38 of house number 11 Zongwe road in Kamwala South, Kasper Bwalya ,31,  of unknown house number in Chawama, Jackson Phiri ,25, of unknown house number in Chawama, Titus Kasunga ,29,  of unknown house in Kamwala South, Blessings Mukupa ,25, of unknown house number in Kamwala South and Lazarous Mwansa ,29,  of Matero Compound had  since been released on police bond.

Mr Haamonga said the Police had further recovered and impounded the Toyota Land Cruiser registration BAT 6157 that had sped off bashing a police vehicle and almost running over a police officer at Ebenezer Polling Station in Chilenje on   February 3, 2022.
