Corrupt officials face exposure

By SILUMESI MALUMO

I WILL soon expose some senior government officials who participated in the corrupt procurement of fuel during late President Michael Sata’s regime and they have been appointed by President Hakainde Hichilema, Economic Front Party President Wynter Kabimba has said.

Mr Kabimba said he had a dossier of some senior government officials who were cited for corruption in a report by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) Commission of Inquiry during Mr Sata’s administration.

Mr Kabimba said some of them complained to President Hichilema that they were not employed that time because they came from a certain region or were not liked by Mr Sata, when they were sidelined due to their corrupt activities.

He said, he owes the nation a duty to tell them the truth about these corrupt elements so that the wrongs can be righted by future generations.

Mr Kabimba said if the ERB Commission of Inquiry report was released then, Mr Hichilema could not have appointed them because of their wrong character.

“It was sad that the ERB Commission of Inquiry report grew cold feet and it was not made public. Zambians would have known these corrupt elements. But I will name and share them soon. And I have seen people who were mentioned in the report that participated in corruption in the procurement of fuel being appointed by HH.

“If HH knew the truth about these individuals he wouldn’t have appointed some of them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Kabimba urged Parliament Public Accounts Committee Chairperson Warren Mwambazi to step aside for allegedly being involved in Disaster Management Unit (DMMU) face mask scandal.

He said Mr Mwambazi cannot preside over proceedings of the committee he has an interest in issues being discussed.

Mr Kabimba said he should have resigned on moral grounds.
