Suspension of MoH directors suspicious – Chanda

By GIDEON NYENDWA

IT is questionable  to have directors in charge of  human resource at the Ministry of Health get suspended at a time when the country has a massive recruitment process in the health sector, New Congress Party president Peter Chanda has said.

Mr Chanda wondered why Government had to wait for the recruitment to start in the ministry to suspend the directors.

He said in an interview that there was no way the government could send the people who were in charge of human resource management on suspension when there was a crucial recruitment exercise going on in the country.

On Friday, March 25, 2022, Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Administration, Dr George Magwende confirmed that the suspension of the five officers; Director Human Resource, Frederick Mwila and his assistant, Dennis Siamphwisi, Directo r- Planning, Henry Kasembe, Chief Human Resource Administrator, Ireen Bwalya, and Senior Human Resource Officer, James Makasa.

Also affected was Ms Peggy Chirwa, Director at Public Service Management Service Division (PSMD) under Recruitment and Placement.

Mr Chanda said that suspending such people in charge of recruitment at a time when the ministry was embarking on a serious recruitment process poses serious worry.

He said that this crucial recruitment process needed to be handled by competent and experienced people.
