GOVERNMENT has no money and that is why President Hakainde Hichilema has gone for eight months without receiving a salary, Patriotic Front (PF) acting chairperson, Davies Chama, has said.
Mr Chama in an interview said the fact was the government had no money which also resulted in them delaying to pay other sections of government employees.
He said that he wondered if the statement was true or maybe they were just trying to politic over the matter.
“For me, if indeed the Head of State has not drawn a salary for the last eight months, it’s not because he wants to but that he knows the government does not have money,” he said.
Mr Chama said that the other fact was that the Head of State was moving from his house to State House every day using the money which was supposed to be for his emoluments.
He said whether he was receiving or not was not important but what was important was for him to solve the problems that were pertaining on the ground.
Meanwhile, Zambia Republican Party president Wright Musoma said the statement was just a political gimmick and that Zambians understood.
He said that there was need to show a stop order to indicate that he was not interested in receiving his emoluments.
Mr Musoma said that the money could have gone straight to his account and no one knew what was going on behind closed doors.
