Chile One’s relative fumes over police actions

By ROGERS KALERO

KELVIN Tembo, a family fpokesperson for the late renowned Kitwe businessman Richard Chileshe Mbulu, popularly known as Chile One, has warned the police to stop treating the widow,  Annie Monta like a victim when in actual fact she was a suspect in the murder of ‘Chile One’ who was shot dead.

Mr Tembo said the family of ‘Chile One’ was agitated that the Police were treating Ms Monta like a victim where they were bringing her to court in a private vehicle when she was supposed to be treated like any other suspects.

Mr Tembo said this  after Monta appeared at the Kitwe Magistrate Court for the explanation of the charge that police treating a murder suspect   like a victim and allowing her to come to court in a private vehicle would end up agitating the family, friends and the general public who loved ‘Chile One’.

“Treating Monta, a murder suspect, like a victim will only serve to agitate the family and friends of Chile One. We know she is a suspect and she should be treated like any other suspect. Not this situation where a murder suspect is coming to court in a private vehicle. No,’’ Ms Tembo said.

Late last month, Chile One ‘was allegedly shot dead by his wife Annie Monta  using  a Pistol 9mm Taurus by Make and Silver in colour with a serial number THR 43651 after a quarrel. Copperbelt Police Commissioner Sharon Cheelo Zulu confirmed the incident and said, a Pistol 9mm Taurus by Make and Silver in colour with a serial number THR 43651 was used in the shooting of Mr Chileshe who sustained a bullet wound on his left side of the back where he was shot at, and on the right side of his chest where the bullet came out.

Ms Zulu said Mr Chileshe was rushed to Progress Private Hospital and later transferred to Kitwe Teaching Hospital where he was pronounce dead.
