FORMER president Edgar Lungu’s aide de camp Chisanga Chanda, has denied assisting murder accused Shebby Chilekwa.
Appearing before Lusaka High Court Judge Ruth Chibbabbuka, a calm looking Chanda pleaded not guilty to a charge of accessories after the fact to murder.It is alleged that Chanda, well knowing that Chilekwa on October 6, 2019 in Kaoma, Western Province, did murder Lawrence Banda, on unknown dates but between October 6, 2019 and February 4, 2022 in Lusaka, received, comforted, harboured, assisted and maintained Chilekwa.
Chilekwa, who is former President Lungu’s barber, is jointly charged with ex- PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri for the murder of Banda.
Chanda is been represented by Lusaka lawyer Makebi Zulu and D.Findlay and Associates.
Trial in the matter commences on June 10,2022.
