NIGERIAN NABBED FOR COCAINE TRAFFICKING

A NIGERIAN has been arrested in Lusaka for allegedly trafficking in cocaine and high grade cannabis.

Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Public Relations Officer, Mathias Kamanga, named the suspect in a statement as 46-year-old Frank Chidiebere.  He was arrested in Garden House area following a raid at his house.

Mr Kamanga said Mr Chidiebere was found with over a kilogram of suspected cocaine and high-grade cannabis.  And in a related incident, DEC has charged and arrested two sisters, Cleopatra Tembo and Miriam Tembo aged 42 and 35 for allegedly trafficking in over one kilogram of suspected heroine and 40 grams of suspected cocaine.

Mr Kamanga said the two sisters were arrested from Libala South following a search that was conducted at their house.

He said the DEC has since seized the house where the contraband was found and another block of flats suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Mr Kamanga also said DEC has arrested Costa Hamamba, aged 27 of Mtendere and Smart Zulu, 42 of Chipata Compound in Lusaka for allegedly trafficking in over one kilogram of suspected heroine.

The two men were apprehended from Downtown area as they were trying to transact.

He said a motor vehicle, a Subaru which they were using, has also been seized.

Mr Kamanga said the arrested suspects are part of a cartel that the DEC has been trailing for some time.
