OPPOSITION National Democratic Congress (NDC) President Saboi Imboela has urged government to investigate the alleged under declaration of minerals production by some mining companies.
Ms Imboela said the government was already losing huge sums of money through mining tax holidays and could not afford to lose more money through under declaration of minerals.
She stated that the continued under declaring of minerals by mining companies would negatively affect the economy hence the need for the government to treat the matter with the urgency it deserved.
Ms Imboela said government’s failure to institute investigations into under-declaration of minerals was a clear indication that it had no intentions of bring sanity in the mining sector.
She said government is supposed to protect Zambians by collecting right taxes from all sectors of the economy.
