LUSAKA BISHOP DRAGGED TO COURT FOR ASSAULTING A CHURCH MEMBER

A 59-year-old Bishop of a named church in Lusaka has been dragged to court after he allegedly assaulted a church member.

Bishop Bernard Uzangi was arrested and then charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

According to allegations before Court, on October 3, 2022 in Lusaka, Bishop Uzangi did assault Felix Hanamela thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

Meanwhile, a male aged 19 has been dragged to court for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his younger brother aged 12.

The juvenile is charged with unnatural offences contrary to section 155(a) of the penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws Zambia.

It is alleged that between September 1 and 25, 2022, in Lusaka, jointly and while acting with other persons unknown, the accused had carnal knowledge of a child against the order of nature. 

It is further alleged that on September 27, 2022, a 38 year old man of Jack Township reported to police on behalf of his 12 year-old son who had been sodomized by his brother aged 19, who was acting with other persons unknown. 

Acting on the medical report, police opened a docket and on September 27, 2022 around 14:00, the suspect was apprehended by his father and took him to the police.

Police detained the suspect and charged him with one count of sodomy. It is alleged that on the material day, the suspect was looking for a house to rent and he picked the victim who was playing soccer so that he could accompany him. 

The suspect then took the juvenile to the friend’s house where they sodomized him. It is alleged that the alleged sodomy happened on four occasions. 

On the last incident which happened on September 25, 2022 the suspects sexually abused the boy and dumped him outside a vehicle. 

The victim was rescued by his father who later took him to hospital and reported the matter to the police.
