HH WAS NEVER ON DEATH ROW

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema was never tried for treason, neither was he ever convicted of treason
nor sentenced to death and it is not correct for him to misrepresent facts that he could have been
hanged over a crime that never took off in the courts of law, says Wynter Kabimba, a State Counsel.
Mr Kabimba has advised President Hichilema to resist the temptation of speaking in the Trinity when
talking about himself because the Head of State is a human being for only God, His Son Jesus and the
Holy Spirit are in the Trinity.
Mr Kabimba, the president of the Economic Front Party says President Hichilema is attempting to
reconstruct his biography by claiming that the previous government had put him on a death row even
before he could be tried for treason to claim a heroism he has not attained.
He said in an interview that it was embarrassing that the Head of State was misinforming Zambians and
the international community by imagining that he was on death row when he was only remanded at
Mukobeko Maximum Prison.
At a luncheon to celebrate the abolishment of the death penalty, President Hichilema claimed that he
was put on death row by the previous administration and could have been executed by hanging until
pronounced dead.
“The man (President Hichilema) was never tried for treason, he was never convicted of treason and was
never sentenced to death. How then does he claim he was put on death row? The truth of the matter is
that Mr Hichilema is trying to reconstruct his biography and claim the heroism he has not attained. But
what is worrying is that he is the cause of embarrassment to the international community because he is
not only speaking to Zambians but to the world,” Mr Kabimba said.
Mr Kabimba said President Hichilema either did not have the correct facts about himself or he was
deliberately failing to tell the truth, stating that such lapses on the part of the Head of State was
damaging the integrity of the presidency.
He said it was wrong for Mr Hichilema to accuse the previous administrations and the Judiciary of having
executed people who could have been innocent because of the death penalty.
“So President Hichilema has indicted the judiciary and the Judges from the previous administrations, the
learned Counsels who went through the mill of the law. And the President stands before the nation and

says he knows that there were people who were innocent but could have been executed by hanging. He
says he knows because he is an example…he was on death row. Really? The President must learn to
consult his legal team on legal matter, he must consult his economic advisors on economics and he must
consult his political advisors on political matters. But let him stop lying and embarrassing us even if I am
not UPND, I am deeply embarrassed,” Mr Kabimba said.
And Mr Kabimba has advised President Hichilema to stop speaking in Trinity each time he is self-praising
because the Head of State is a human being and not God.
He said Mr Hichilema was the first human being who was ever speaking in Trinity when referring to
himself.
