THE reason the country has started experiencing load shedding is because the government has prioritised exporting power to foreign countries, Patriotic Front aspiring presidential candidate, Chishimba Kambwili, has charged.

Mr Kambwili said it was shocking that the United Party for National Development (UPND) was going this root when they castigated the previous government who managed to deal with the problem.

He said that the previous government made sure that it increased capacity of power generation so that the country could do away with load shedding.

Mr Kambwili said the water levels at Kariba could have an impact but that it was evident that government had prioritised export  of power.

“The very same things they condemned are the same things they are doing right now, because they actually castigated their counterparts who even increased capacity from 1800 to 3600,” he said.

Mr Kambwili also lamented on the poor distribution of farming inputs and that it was shameful that people were now sharing fertiliser in medas which was unheard of.

He said the whole process was marred with corruption as they (government) wanted to bring in people that they wanted in order to get cuts from the contracts.

“This year’s farming season is a disaster and is shrieking with corruption because the UPND government wants to bring in their own suppliers,” he said.

Mr Kambwili also called on government to stop the civil service purge because it had negative impacts as they were killing institutional memory of these ministries.

Mr Kambwili also urged Mr James Ndambo to rescind his decision of closing My Home Town project which was helping a number of vulnerable people in society.
