Chshimba Kambwili was yesterday arrested and denied bond for unlawful assembly after heavily armed police officers stormed, yet again, his residence after failing to have him arrested over the weekend.
Mr Kambwili has been arreasted and charged with unlawful assembly along with Charles Kakula, the man who led a protest to the Patriotic Front (PF) presidential candidate.
He has denied the charge but has been denied bond and has since been transported to Chilanga where he is being detained.
He said the police had planned to arrest him in a dramatic way like a fugitive who was resisting but as a law abiding citizen, he was not going to get into a confrontation with the police officers “They wanted to force their way into my house and create drama and a narrative that I am a fugitive running away from being arrested,”Mr Kambwili said He said he was disappointed with the behaviour of the police for the fact that his lawyers had written to the police that he would report himself on Monday (yesterday).
“I am used to this kind of harassment. It is not the first and it certainly shall not be the end. I am going to President Hichilema’s hostel which he has prepared for me. I only hope that I will not be poisoned,” Mr Kambwili said as he was being whisked away to Chalanga where he has been detained.
