Simon Mwewa faces K15m lawsuit

SIMON Mwewa is facing a K15 million lawsuit for allegedly defaming Patriotic Front (PF) acting president Given Lubinda, Nickson Chilanwa, the secretary general, Raphael Nakacinda, the chairperson for information and Chitambo Member of Parliament, Chanda Mutale.

Mr Mwewa, a social media commentator has accused Mr Lubinda, Mr Nakacinda, Mr Chilangwa and Mr Mutale of obtaining money by false pretenses, allegations which the quartet are demanding should be retracted  within the next five days.

On his Facebook posting, Mr Mwewa has asked the police to arrest the quartet because according to him, the four were criminals who had obtained money by false pretenses.

But now Mr Lubinda, Mr Chilangwa, Mr Nakacinda and Mr Mutale are demanding an apology and a retraction from Mr Mwewa and a K15 million for having been defamed.

According to a letter from Makebi Zulu Advocates, Mr Mwewa, on February 6, 2023 published a story on his Facebook page suggesting that Lubinda, Mr Chilangwa, Mr Nakacinda and Mr Mutale stole money that party presidential candidates had paid as nomination fees to contest the PF presidency.

Makebi Zulu Advocates stated that by publishing false information, Mr Mwewa was suggesting that their clients were criminals and were involved in criminal acts such as the one he had highlighted which was obtaining money by false pretense.

They have also demanded that Mr Mwewa should retract the said words failure to which shall proceed with the appropriate action against him.
