ENIOR Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II of Chongwe has endorsed the candidature of President Hakainde Hichilema for 2026, stating that it is her wish that he should continue governing the country after the expiry of his first term.
Chieftains Nkomeshya in an emotionally plea said if she was going to be alive in 2026, she would crawl in an effort to support President Hichilema because of the achievements the head of State had recorded for the benefit of all Zambians.

She said President Hichilema had suffered for Zambians and the country before being elected through several arrests, claiming that the head of State had cheated death in his struggle to serve the country.
The traditional leader said she would support President Hichilema because of how suffered and missed death for the sake of the Zambian people.
Chieftainess Nkomeshya said this during the official commissioning of 750 +12 Megawatts of the Kafue Gorge Lower hydro power station in Chinkankata district.
She said it was disheartening that some people were issuing negative sentiments against President Hichilema whom she claimed had done a lot for the country.
“All the good things that were happening in the country would not have happened if the people did not make a decision to change government in 2021. The commissioning of the fifth power generating unit has only been possible because of the hard work of the UPND administration,” Chieftainess Nkomeshya said.
Chieftainess Nkomeshya said during the previous administration there was only one generator at the power station and she did not think it would have been possible for the five to be completed.
She claimed that in 2021 former President Edgar Lungu had told her that there was only one person who gave him (former President Lungu) problems and that the said person was President Hichilema, then in opposition.
Chieftainess Nkomeshya claimed that former President Lungu had tasked her to deliver a message to President Hichilema, in opposition at the time that he (former President Lungu) was going to hand over power to himself after the 2021 general elections.
Chieftainess Nkomeshya said she told Mr Lungu that was his thinking and was the way he was looking at things but that he did not know the mood of the people.
“I am not backbiting here. I am saying the truth and if you want, you can go and report about it. I am happy I have spoken my mind. It is my wish that President Hichilema should continue governing Zambia after 2026. I will crawl if I will still be alive to support President Hichilema because what the things he has done for the country. The five turbines from which one has just been commissioned would not have been possible if it were not for the hard work of the UPND administration” Senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya said.
Chieftainess Nkomeshya said this while her subjects tried to plead with her to stop but resisted the advice of her subjects who were not pleased that the traditional leader was attacking former President Lungu at a for meant to celebrate the commissioning of the fifth turbine.
