THE governing UPND has banned the Patriotic Front (PF) from wearing its regalia and chanting its now popular mantra of “alebwelelapo”, vowing that it shall embark on physically beating all members of the former ruling party that would defy the orders.

Copperbelt UPND deputy youth chairman for politics, Kangwa Kamando has warned of severe action against the PF members who would be found wearing their regalia or intoning that the former ruling party would reclaim the leadership of the country in 2026.

Mr Kamando has also declared that the PF shall never be allowed to participate in national events because according to him, the amnesty for freedom which the governing party had granted to the former ruling party had since expired.

But the PF has warned that the UPND shall be held accountable should any of its members be murdered for wearing or identifying themselves with the party.

Kanfinsa PF Member of Parliament who is national youth chairman Christopher Kang’ombe said it had come to the attention of the PF that the UPND through one of their officials was publicly threatening violence against the former ruling party.

Mr Kamando claimed that the UPND had given the PF amnesty and that it had since expired and therefore the members of the former ruling party should stop claiming that they woult again take over the governance of the country.

“From now on, henceforth, no PF member will be allowed to participate in national events. They can participate somewhere else but not here on the Copperbelt because we will beat them hands down, Mr Kamando has warned.

But Mr Kang’ombe said the PF shall defend itself should the ruling party attack any of its members or sympathisers, vowing that the former ruling party members shall never stop wearing their regalia.

Mr Kang’ombe has challenged Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba to not only take interest in the matter but protect all Zambians.

He said the constitution of Zambia guarantees citizens the right to freedom of association and that the UPND must be reminded that a political party in power did not assume more rights and privileges than any other Zambian belonging to another political party.
