Next futsal camp set for August

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

NATIONAL Futsal team coach Andrea Cristoforetti says the team will regroup in the third week of August to continue with preparations for various tournaments lined up before the year ends.

Cristoforetti, who had earlier called 17 players for a one-month camp which ended last week said he was impressed with the performance of the players who were preparing for the eight-nation tournament scheduled for Croatia.

Cristoforetti said it is disappointing that the team will not travel for the championship in Croatia due to a visa glitch.

“We closed camp and I think camp was very good. The best so far because we are competing and we start engaging all the elements needed to prepare for a competition or tournament. We have worked hard,” Cristoforetti said.

“There were issues with the visa and that is why we won’t be able to go now but the most important thing is that the team has been together and worked towards the main goal of preparing for the Africa Cup qualifiers,” he said.

Cristoforetti noted that apart from the Africa Futsal championship qualifiers which have not yet been confirmed, the national futsal team would prepare for a number of international competitions lined up before the year ends.

“We are faced with a couple of situations which have not been confirmed so far and most likely we might be able to travel at the end of August or the beginning of September meaning the second or third week of August that is when we will be regrouping,” he said.

Cristoforetti said the team now has enough time to organise visas and that is what they will focus on as they aim to compete in a couple of events which will be confirmed soon.

“Now that we have the passports and documentations ready for the guys it will be much easier because the issue of the visas has been a challenge,” Cristoforetti, who also doubles as Automotive Futsal Academy coach said.
