Mr Nkulukusa said Government believes that partnerships with the corporate world is one sure way to uplift the livelihoods of the people in the country.

He was speaking when he witnessed the donation of mealie meal by Surya Energy group of companies to elderly people in Katuba Constituency of Chibombo yesterday.

Mr Nkulukusa observed that the conducive business environment the government has created has culminated in unprecedented development in the country.

He added that the private sector had come on board to complement the efforts of government in light of the good policies put in place.

Mr Nkulukusa also asked Surya Energy Bio Fuels group of companies to prioritise offering employment to local people especially youths rather than non-locals.

He explained that local people should be the real beneficiaries of any progressive projects taking place in the Constituency.

He commended Surya Energy group of companies for extending assistance to the people in his constituency as part of social responsibility.

And Surya energy group of companies said it is committed to continue uplifting the welfare of people in Katuba Constituency of Chibombo as part of its social investment policy.

Head of human resources, Brilliant Simwanza said the company stands ready to work with local people in which it operates from.

She said the donation of bags of mealie meal to the elderly is part of this year’s Heroes and Unity Day commemorations which fell last week.

Ms Simwanza observed that elderly people need to be looked after well as they contributed to the liberation struggle of the country.

She noted that Government alone cannot respond to every need and that partnering with private sector companies such as Surya Energy group of companies is critical.

“Let me state here that Surya energy group of companies is ready to collaborate with government to better the lives of citizens in Katuba Constituency where the company is domiciled, “she said.. – ZANIS.
