…as promoted Mutondo Stars humiliate Nkana FC

NEWLY promoted Mutondo Stars propelled to fourth on the MTN/FAZ Super League table after humiliating Kitwe giants Nkana FC 1-0 in a Week-2 fixture played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

A second half goal from Dalitso Lungu secured the crucial victory for for the Zedy Saileti tutored Mutondo Stars who started the league with a  goalless stalemate against Green Eagles.

Asked what inspired his boys to deliver a win against Nkana who were the favorites, Saileti said; “A lot of my boys have never tested Super Division and I have been psyching them to them a lot of confidence and the most important thing while playing in the Super Division you need to keep the ball if you can keep the ball then you can control the game.” 

Saileti said the big win over Kalampa will motivate his charges as they seek to compete in Zambias’ top flight football league. 

For Nkana assistant coach George Chilufya, the Kitwe giants were unfortunate to loose to their new rivals as they player better football compared to the game they played against Red Arrows on match day one of the Super League. 

The sweet victory over Nkana escalated Mutondo to four points, on par with Forest Rangers, Mufulira Wanderers and ZESCO United who are unbeaten and dominate the top four slots on the league table. 

Meanwhile, ZESCO United scored late in the second fixture of the double header at Heros Stadium to rescue a point against Prison Leopards. 

Midfielder Kelvin Kampamba scored in the 89th minute to cancel David Obashi’s 47th minute goal to propel the Ndola giants to the summit of the Super League table. 

The George Lwandamina tutored Ndoka giants maintains an unbeaten record having beaten NAPSA Stars 1-0 in the Week-1 fixture before yesterday’s stalemate against the Kabwe based Super League outfit.
