GOVERNMENT has launched a K3.2 million water reticulation and plumbing works at Kitwe Teaching (KTH), a project aimed at creating a clean, competent and caring environment for both patients and health care providers.

Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Kasongo said the hospital has continued to offer health care services to not only Kitwe residents but other towns as well.
Mr. Kasongo said the President, after visiting the hospital in October 2022 noted the challenges faced by the hospital.
Mr. Kasongo said it was for this reason that the government through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development released the monies to offer an immediate solution to the water and sanitation problem.
The contract for the works was given to Mainway Constructions Limited of Lusaka.
“In order to show the importance government attaches to the institution, it has further allocated an addition of K10.9 million for road works, and rehabilitation of wards among other projects that will commence in due course,” he said.
And Provincial Medical Director Charles Mwinuna said it was delighting to note that the government shared the same vision as that of the Provincial Health Office of working in a clean, competent and caring environment.
Dr Mwinuna said the need to have a steady flow of water in all departments as health care providers cared for patients could not be over emphasized.
He hoped that proper services would be provided properly to the institution with the coming of reticulation and plumbing works.
