…K2.5 million deal signed for new football season

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

ATLASMARA Bank and Zesco United have unveiled a renewed shirt sponsorship partnership worth K2.5 million.

The sponsorship package becomes the biggest annual sponsorship deal in the entire Zambia Super League.

Speaking during the signing of the contract renewal, Atlasmara Bank Acting Managing Director Bobbline Cheembela said their collaboration with Zesco United shows their commitment to support the development of football.

Cheembela said Atlasmara Bank which offers debit cards and short-term salary advances for employees with Atlasmara Bank accounts doesn’t only sponsor football.

“Atlasmara Bank’s commitment to sports development is not only limited to football but that we have also had very fruitful collaborations with other sports disciplines such as rugby, athletics table tennis and golf,” Cheembela said.

“For Football development we also have strong partnership with the Football Association of Zambia where we participate in sponsoring a number of activities including the annual charity shield which always signals the commencement of a new soccer season,” he said.

Cheembela said that as part of the partnership with Zesco United, Atlasmara will continue with its commitment to actively promote financial literacy for Zesco United players.

And Zesco United Chairman Charles Kalala commended the bank for the commitment to sponsor the Ndola giants.

Kalala said the extension of the contract by Atlasmara is a challenge to Zesco United management and players to work extremely hard and reclaim the league title they won two seasons ago.

“We have a big task to repay the efforts shown by Atlasmara by emerging champions of the new season and secure qualification for the CAF Interclub championship,” Kalala said.
