By LUCY PHIRI

LUSAKA resident magistrate, Irene Wishimanga has set May 10, 2024 as a date she will render judgement in a matter in which Amos Chanda is charged with theft and destroying evidence.

This was after Chanda in his defense opted to remain silent.

Chanda through one of his Lawyers, Mr Timmy Munalula informed the court that he would remain silent in his defense and he was not calling any witnesses.

“We are instructed by my client that he will exercise his right to remain silent. And we are not calling any witnesses. We will also be doing written submissions and we may need 21 days. I am a bit busy,” Mr. Munalula said.

In this matter, Chanda pleaded not guilty to one count of theft Contrary to Section 272 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia and one count of destroying evidence Contrary to Section 111 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE.
