Former Taxman, Chanda advises against reliance on external pleas for debt forgiveness

FORMER Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Director General, Kingsley Chanda advised against relying on international pleas for debt forgiveness, saying the country has capacity to pay back both internal and external debt.
Dr Chanda’s optimism of Zambia having capacity to service its debt was banked on the country’s abundant natural resources such as minerals, land, water bodies, and timber.
The former ZRA Chief, also a Tax and Business Consultant, said these natural resources had the nation’s potential to generate substantial revenues capable of servicing its entire debt within a five-year timeframe.
