By BARNABAS ZULU

DEFIANT former Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo, has vowed to fight to the end to make sure the Patriotic Front (PF) should reclaim its glory and return to power in 2026.

Lusambo who has been served with a two-year sentence with hard labour by a Luanshya Magistrate Court has compared his determination to ensure the PF was elected again in 2026 to that of former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has just been been re-elected the 47th President of the United States.

Lusambo described the charges against him as politically motivated, insisting that he would appeal his conviction and remain steadfast in his fight for justice.

“We have just been sentenced to two years in prison in Luanshya with hard labour for a crime we didn’t commit,” Lusambo said. “All sworn witnesses during trial testified that we were never anywhere near the scene of the crime. In the judgement, our conviction was based on assertions that the people who were involved in the crime were acting on our behalf, which is laughable both at law and basic common sense,” Lusambo said. He reiterated his belief in the Zambian judiciary, despite what he described as very difficult conditions under which they work and expressed confidence that an appeal would be successful and that justice would ultimately prevail.

“Our lawyers are working on an appeal process, and we still retain confidence in our judiciary who are working under very difficult conditions to deliver justice,” Lusambo added.

“We are incarcerated but our spirits remain very strong as we had prepared ourselves for an outcome like this.”

In a defiant tone, Lusambo urged his supporters to stay resolute, drawing inspiration from the political comeback of Donald Trump. “To our supporters, remain resolute. Just like President Trump, we will be back to take back this country in 2026!” he declared.
