Kabuswe scolds Sangwa over ‘toilet’ drab

…advises the leader of the Movement for National Renewal against using insulting language in his political discourse, says Zambia is in a much better economic position than it was four years ago before President Hichilema took over

JOHN Sangwa should learn to be civil and palatable in his language as he begins his political career and should know that Zambians frown on political leaders who insult their intelligence by their profane language about the economic status of the country, Paul Kabuswe has charged.
Mr Kabuswe, the UPND Chililabombwe Member of Parliament says Mr Sangwa SC had annoyed many Zambians by claiming that the country’s economic progress under President Hakainde Hichilema was nothing more than being in a latrine.
Mr Kabuswe, how is Mines and Minerals Development Minister said President Hichilema had worked so hard to revive the economy, which he said by 2021, was regressing by more than negative two percent.
He has projected that President Hichilema was more than likely to win next year’s general election because the Copperbelt and miners were behind him following his government’s revamping of the mining sector.
“Mr Sangwa has just entered politics and he should learn that Zambians detest profane language, especially against President Hichilema, who has worked so hard to reverse the negative economic growth, which he inherited in 2021.
Now the economy is growing from negative two percent to above six percent as projected by both the International Monitory Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Is that taking the country into the toilet? Let Mr Sangwa use palatable language, he should desist from that kind of virulent language,” Mr Kabuswe said.
And Mr Kabuswe said it is misleading to claim that the Copperbelt had shifted allegiance from the UPND, projecting that President Hichilema was headed for a landslide victory because of what he has achieved on his score card.
“The correct position is that miners are with the government. Just four years ago, every miner was living in distress. All the mining companies on the Copperbelt were struggling. But under President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, life has returned to the sector,” Mr Kabuswe said.
“Life has returned to the Copperbelt because of the resuscitation of the mines. Roads are being constructed all over, hotels are full, and even long-forgotten roads like the Tendola–Mufulira Road are being worked on,” he said.
He also disclosed that the Ming’omba Mine project in Chililabombwe was progressing well and that shaft sinking is scheduled to commence by April next year, to be launched by President Hichilema.
“Ming’omba has already performed miracles even before mining its first tonne of copper – it has built a modern school in Kawama and is transforming lives,” Mr Kabuswe said
