A trade fair (trade show, trade exhibition, or expo) is an exhibition organized so that companies in various specific industry sectors can showcase and demonstrate their latest products and services, meet with industry partners and customers, and examine recent market trends and opportunities.

It is also a time to develop strategic business linkages or partnerships. It is therefore, an opportunity that every institution, private and public would not want to miss.

The 53rd Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) will take place from 28th June to 4th July 2017. The theme for this year is “Innovation for Industrialisation”.

As a Bureau, we feel very close to this theme because it is closely linked to our mandate. Our mission as you know is to provide efficient and effective Standardisation,

Quality Assurance and Metrology Services to industry and consumers in order to contribute to the improvement of the quality and competitiveness of products and services and to promote socio-economic development in Zambia. With a vibrant industry, our products will compete favourably on both the local and international market and more jobs will be created for our people. In essence, we are saying that standardisation is the basis for value addition as it promotes innovation and consequently enhances product quality.

I am therefore, extending an invitation to you all our clients and stakeholders to come through to our stand and learn more about standards and quality assurance.

I have always said that standards are developed with you in mind, because standards are aimed at safeguarding your health and safety and to protect the environment in which we live.

It is important therefore, that we all begin to take keen interest in standardisation.

I want to make an appeal to all exhibitors both local and foreign to seize this event and opportunity to provide quality products to our consumers. Industry should know that good quality products will give their businesses a competitive advantage and customer loyalty.

Good quality products will guarantee the protection of the safety and health of consumers. Good quality promote will promote competitiveness and economic growth.

On the other hand, I want to appeal to all consumers especially those intending to go to the trade fair to be quality conscious and shun substandard products.

Consumers should know that they have the power to drive the market by making conscious quality decisions as they buy various products.

Let me therefore, invite you to the trade fair grounds where ZABS will join many other organisations to exhibit and showcase its various services. It will be an exciting time for us as we will be able to explain our services in detail one on one!  And yes we will be able to give you on the spot information and answers to your questions.

I look forward to seeing you there as I reiterate one of our key messages as ZABS; To the Consumer be quality conscious and ensure that you demand for goods and products that are safe and of the required standard. Manufacturers, partner with ZABS and subject your products to quality tests so that they can be inspected and certified for the safety of your consumers.

It is my sincere hope that we will make quality a priority in our lives and help to maximise the growth of our economy and then only will we be able to sustain a strong economy for our benefit and that of the future generation.

Hey, don’t forget to pass through our stand, see you there.
