PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary general Davies Mwila has urged party members to actively explain and defend government programmes on economic recovery and national development so that Zambians can understand the decisions being made.
And Mr Mwila has warned Mufulira Mayor Gift Mushinge against luring party structures in the area to work with the Kantanshi Independent parliamentarian Anthony Mumba.
Mr Mwila said he was expecting members of the ruling party to actively defend government programmes to ensure that citizens understood why Government was making certain decisions.
“If you, members of PF, do not explain government programmes and why Government is taking certain decisions, the opposition may take advantage to misleading or telling lies to the people. So I am telling you to explain government decisions to the people. Some of our decisions may be harsh but they are meant to correct the economy. When you have Malaria, the medicine that they use to treat is usually bitter,” Mr Mwila said.
Mr Mwila issued the warning against the Mufulira Mayor after a concern raised by Mufulira District PF Chairman Dominic Mwale to the effect that Mr Mushinge has allegedly been trying to convince party structures in Kantanshi Constituency to work with Mr Mumba. He said independents were not members of the ruling party and that PF members must not condone indiscipline by entertaining Independents.

And speaking earlier, PF Mufulira District Chairman Dominic Mwale said all structures in the district were intact despite losing Kantanshi Constituency to an Independent.
Dr. Mwale said party members worked hard to campaign for former Kantanshi Member of Parliament Yamfwa Mukanga but that it was shocking that the Independent candidate Mr Mumba had access to more PF campaign materials than the party’s candidate.
Dr. Mwale said party members were still upset because they have been wondering as to where Mr Mumba was getting PF campaign materials from.
