CHISHIMBA Kambwili will be responsible for anything bad that will happen to Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda because he has pushed his hatred for the young man too far, Mr Chanda’s family has warned.

Mr. Chanda’s uncle John Bwalya has told the Daily Nation that his family had followed Mr Kambwili’s verbal assault on their relative and had finally come to the conclusion that the issue was beyond political rivalry.

Mr Bwalya said it was uncalled for that Mr. Kambwili should continue intimidating, attacking and threatening Mr Chanda whom he has declared as his political foe for unknown reasons.

He said Mr Kambwili should have known that it was the right of every Zambians to aspire for political leadership and that the Luanshya Mayor had not committed a crime by expressing interest to challenge the former Information Minister over the Roan seat.

He said the family had respected Mr Kambwili but that it was now fed up with him and warned that should anything happen to their relative, Mr. Kambwili would be the first prime suspect because he had openly shown his hatred for the Luanshya mayor.

“When their differences started, we were reluctant to get involved because we realised politics was about struggles. We took it as a political issue but everyone now knows it is more than politics. Mr. Kambwili is looking for something else other than political power from Nathan and we will not sit and watch any longer because this issue is getting out of hand.

“We would like to warn Mr Kambwili that the attacks he made on Nathan on Sunday should be the last we shall have to take him on as a family. How can an old man like Mr Kambwili be threatening and attacking a young man fit enough to be his own son all for the desire to hold on to the Constituency? What wrong has Nathan done that he cannot forgive him?” Mr. Bwalya complained.

He said the family was appalled that Mr. Kambwili had failed to work with Mr. Chanda despite the two belonging to the same party.

“How do you expect the country to develop where people from the same party are fighting each other? No one has told Mr Kambwili to stop working in his constituency and so, let him also allow Nathan to work as Mayor for Luanshya.

“The PF is not a personal company where someone can do as he pleases. It is the party in government and for them to deliver meaningful development to the people, those entrusted with public responsibility should work together but that is the exact opposite of what we are seeing from Mr. Kambwili who is only preoccupied with fighting his perceived enemies for no apparent reason,” he said.

Mr. Kambwili and Mr. Chanda have been at daggers dawn from the time the later declared interest to contest the Roan seat in the August 11 elections much to the annoyance of the incumbent who accused him of plotting to kill him (Mr. Kambwili) so that he could be adopted.
