It is now more than two months since the Law Association of Zambia made three very profound decision which have divided the organisation to a point of many considering the formation of a different association to serve professional rather than political problems.
To date there has been no explanation why LAZ should pay legal fees for Nchima Nchito who is representing Fred M’membe and why indeed the association wishing to become a friend of the court in a case where it has already taken sides by paying legal fees for one of the parties.
This lack of transparency and the additional dubious dabbling of the association in the 2021 Presidential matter brings it into a very difficult place where nothing short of a proper explanation will suffice.
It is one thing for the association to oversee the profession but another for the elected officers who should not take sides to take political positions.
Tax evasion is a criminal matter but assumes political proportions when circumstances underwhich a huge amount was written off when many other citizens and companies have been closed down because they failed to pay.
Many people are concerned by what is transpiring because it seem that the cartel has taken control of the operations of the association.
The truth must be told to set the rcord straight. Why should LAZ pay for Nchima Nchito to represent Fred M’membe?
