HAKAINDE Hichilema’s wife has alleged that the people who arrested her husband were PF cadres dressed in police uniforms.
Speaking to BBC Africa yesterday, Mrs Hichilema said all those speaking against Government were either followed, arrested or even killed.
Mrs Hichilema claimed that there was a total erosion of democracy in Zambia and that the cadres disguised as police officers were endangering the security of the nation.
She therefore appealed to the international community to intervene and help as the erosion of democracy in Zambia and its rapid slide towards a dictatorship, could not be ignored.
The opposition leader’s wife further insisted that her husband was being victimized because he did not commit any crime.
But PF media director Sunday Chanda rubbished the claims saying they were meant to mislead the international community.
“The claim are baseless and untrue meant to mislead the international community. I want to categorically say that is a ridiculous lie meant to mislead the international community,” he said.
He said at no time had the PF cadres been involved in the operations of the police.
Mr Chanda further said it was Mr Hichilema’s arrogance and lawlessness which led to his arrest.
“I pity Mrs Hichilema because she is being used to say those claims. The UPND is panicking and let me warn them against lying to the international community because it was her husband arrogance and lawlessness which led to his arrest” Mr Chanda said.
