ONE PERSON has died following a Zambia Railways passenger train derailment in Magoye area of Southern Province.
Southern Province Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso in a statement yesterday disclosed that a Zambia Railways train from Lusaka enroute to Livingstone derailed around 12:00 hours near Magoye where one person was reported to have died.
“One person only identified as Mutinta, a casual worker for the Zambia Railways Corporation in Livingstone is confirmed dead.
“Police officers have since cordoned off the place to secure passangers’ luggage,” he said.
Mr Kapeso explained that 12 people were reported to have minor injuries, and no one was admitted to hospital.
