MKUSHI North Member of Parliament Doreen Mwape has donated assorted clothes to expectant mothers at Masansa clinic in Mkushi.
Ms. Mwape gave out chitenge materials and other clothing to expectant mothers in the maternity wing as new year gifts.
Ms. Mwape told the Daily Nation in an interview that the donation was meant to help out women who are the most vulnerable in society.
“I have donated clothes as a way to appreciate and help out expectant mothers in one way or the other. Women are the most vulnerable in society hence the need to help them,” Ms. Mwape said.
The Mkushi North law maker said she will continue helping women in various spheres of life for better life and development.
And Ms. Mwape said that the shortage of staff at Masansa clinic will be a thing of the past as she would ensure that health workers are deployed to the clinic so that the people of Masansa are treated accordingly.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mwape said she was gratified with the sinking of the borehole and construction of toilets at Mboboli primary school.
The MP said erecting of VIP toilets and sinking of the borehole had improved the standards of the learning institution and that would allow pupils to learn from clean environment under good sanitary conditions.
Ms. Mwape further thanked government for commitment to development and uplifting the standard of living for people in rural communities.
Ms. Mwape was on her constituency tour inspecting and monitoring developmental projects in the area.
And a civic leader in Mkushi has called for Public Private Partnership (PPP) for development.
Chalata ward Councillor Moses Manjimela said this in an interview with the Daily Nation.
Mr. Manjimela said Public Private Partnership (PPP) was a way to go unlike always waiting for government to deliver. He said civic leaders should take it upon themselves to initiate PPP for development.
“I think its high time civic leaders took it upon themselves to promote PPP. As area councillors we must be in the forefront to advocate and identify possible partners for Public Private Partnership so as to develop our areas,”Mr. Manjimela said.
