SUSPECTED UPND cadres in Nampundwe on Sunday torched a car belonging to Eucridy Mwiinga, who recently defected from the party to the ruling Patriotic Front.
Mr Mwiinga also said about K72, 000 and a laptop went missing after the house was broken into by the criminals.
In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Mwiinga said a Toyota Noah registration No. ALT 7146 was set on fire round 04:00 hours at his home.
Mr Mwiinga, who recently resigned his position as UPND councillor in Nampundwe ward said he had since reported the matter to police.
Mr Mwiinga however said he was not shaken because it was coming from his political opponents who wanted to see his downfall.
He said he will never go back to UPND which had no vision apart from attacking and insulting Government.
Mr Mwiinga however said he would remain a loyal member of PF and pay due allegiance to President Edgar Lungu.
He was not surprised over the torching of his vehicle because everything was possible from the UPND.
He called for justice to prevail by ensuring that the culprits were brought to book.
“I resigned from UPND last week as Nampundwe ward councillor and to-day my vehicle has been set ablaze, anyway I am not shaken at all. I shall forever remain a loyal member of the PF,’’ said Mr Mwiinga.
Meanwhile, PF media director Sunday Chanda has condemned the gross actions of suspected UPND cadres adding that their intolerance was worry-ing.
Mr Chanda said the undemocratic tendencies and behaviour by the UPND was taking politics backwards because they had no vision for the Zambian people.
Mr Chanda also called on police to conduct thorough investigations so that the perpetrators were brought to book to help end political intolerance.
