A 73 years old woman has appeared in the Choma Magistrates Court for swindling a family out of a plot and K50,000 on the pretext that she was selling a house.
In this matter, Peter Mutale 32 and Anna Chitundu are jointly charged with “Cheating” contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that the two, jointly and whilst acting together unlawfully and fraudulently obtained K50, 000 and a Plot all valued at K70, 000.
It is further alleged that the two in obtaining the money and plot from Audrey Handima and Precious Handima falsely pretended that they were selling a house when in fact not.
The alleged incident happened between March 2019 and April 2020 in Choma district of Southern province.
When the two appeared for plea before Resident Magistrate Selia Kanunka, they vehemently denied the allegations levelled against them compelling the Court to record pleas of not guilty respectively.
The matter was adjourned to a later date for commencement of trial.
The two had their police bonds extended.
